Michael Duez

Beardo, brand manager for the Beard & Moustache Club

Referring to Michael Duez’s beard as unique is an understatement. At a recent beard competition, judge and lead singer of Gwar Oserus Urungus compared it to a vortex. It may not be the longest in the Beard & Moustache Club, which meets monthly at M’Coul’s, but it’s impressive enough that Duez took home second place at the club’s Beard-tober Fest in the fall. The club just celebrated it’s fifth anniversary, and brand manager Duez joined two years ago. Born in High Point, Duez lives in Greensboro and works at ACN Inc. in Concord. It’s been 15 months since he has shaved, and Duez said he enjoys the club for the social aspect, the charity fundraising they do and to challenge the stigma around beards that considers them unprofessional or associated with a fringe culture. The club’s motto, “Women and less fortunate men are always welcome,” means the group is more inclusive than some might imagine.
