GREENSBORO, NC (October 17, 2016) – Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan was presented the Public Official of the Year Award by the NC Housing Coalition at its annual conference on October 13. The award is given to a public official who places priority on improving housing conditions and fights for additional resources and legislation needed to make this happen.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition, but this wouldn’t have happened without the support for affordable housing from my fellow City Council members,” said Vaughan. “As a council, we are committed to ensuring the residents of Greensboro have safe and affordable housing. Residents have a chance to vote on a $25 million housing bond on the ballot this year to further assist with the vision for housing, neighborhood revitalization and rehabilitation.”

Mayor Vaughan also currently serves on the Affordable Housing Advisory Council of Atlanta as the council’s lone NC representative.
