One Man Wounded, One Killed in Triad Shooting
On Nov. 13, 2017, Winston-Salem Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of Discharging of Firearms and of multiple persons shot, in the 1700 block of Richard Allen Lane.
Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Leon Denard Conrad Jr. in front of 1795 Richard Allen Lane, suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his neck area. Mr. Conrad, 20, was located in a parked vehicle that he was believed to have been in possession of. Personnel with Emergency Medical Services also responded and pronounced Mr. Conrad, of 1757 Burton Street in Winston-Salem, was deceased at the scene. Mr. Conrad’s next of kin has been notified.
Mr. Rechard Sylvester Hall (20 years old) was also found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his shoulder area. Mr. Hall lives at 1795 Richard Allen Lane and was believed to have been in the vehicle with Mr. Conrad when they were shot. Emergency Medical Services transported Mr. Rechard Hall to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where he was treated for his injury.
A bullet struck two houses in the area during this incident. Multiple persons occupied the residences; however, no one was injured.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division responded and assumed investigative responsibility for this incident. No arrests were made as of this writing as detectives were still developing information. This is the 22nd homicide to occur in 2017, as compared to 22 homicides for the same period in 2016.
