Publix Chooses Grandover Village for New Location
Publix chooses Grandover Village for new location
January 9, 2018 — Koury Corporation’s Grandover Village will be the site of the Greensboro area’s first Publix supermarket, company officials announced today. The 49,098 square foot grocery store will anchor the new shopping center located at the intersection of West Gate City Boulevard and Guilford College Road, an area made ripe for commercial expansion by the recently completed extensive roadway improvements to W. Gate City Blvd and Jamestown Parkway.
The center is expected to draw from a wide trade area but will primarily serve the Grandover, Sedgefield, Adams Farm and Jamestown communities. Situated on 21 acres, it will also include 14,000+ square feet of shop space and multiple outparcels destined to host a variety of retail, service, restaurant and medical users.
The center will kick off and become the focal point of commercial development on more than 125 acres in the strategic northwest corner of Grandover, Koury’s 1400 acre mixed-use development.
Koury recently completed in close proximity to the site the 192 unit first phase of Millis & Main luxury apartments, and is under construction with another 120 units. Ron Mack, Executive Vice President-Retail and General Counsel for Koury Corporation, stated, “We’ve been working with Publix for several years to get to this day and, while it was a long time coming, we are confident that Publix is absolutely the best anchor to serve local residents and to kick off our commercial development.” Store opening is projected for Fall, 2019.
Established in 1952, Koury Corporation is a Greensboro based developer of resort and convention hotels, retail, office and industrial properties, and residential communities.
