RIVAL HOTEL DEVELOPERS SUE TO BLOCK PROJECT
Greensboro hotel developers Mike Weaver and Dennis Quaintance filed a complaint for summary judgment in Guilford County court on Feb. 11 seeking to have the Greensboro City Council and Guilford County Commission votes to approve a downtown luxury hotel by rival developer Bridget Chisholm and her group declared invalid.
Weaver and Quaintance’s lawsuit alleges that “city council members have abrogated their duties as public officials and have failed and refused to take appropriate action to correct the material mistakes of fact and law that exist regarding the December 15, 2009 city resolution.” The downtown luxury hotel must still receive approval from the Guilford County Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Authority before receiving consideration from the Local Government Commission in Raleigh.
