Winter’s back has been broken, and the Triad culinary scene awakens from a short, post-holiday slumber.

Locally, venerable but defunct Greensboro restaurant Southern Lights has plans for resurrection on Lawndale this spring. Chef/Owner John Drees brings a most of his staff to the new location, which has expanded seating and a patio.

And Vintage 301 in Greensboro’s Southside neighborhood launches a new menu rife with small plates (try the fava) and large (meatloaf, anyone?) It comes just in time for the restaurant’s four-course Victory Beer Dinner, which happens Wednesday night, Call 336.333.3190 for reservations.

Also on Wednesday, Green Drinks Greensboro meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Green Bean And the aforementioned Undercurrent holds its Rodney Strong Wine Dinner, four courses at 6:30. Make a reservation online, why dontcha?

Thursday sees a New Year’s greens cooking class at Whole Foods Market in Winston-Salem beginning at 6 p.m. Register by calling 336.722.9233.

On Friday, all Triad locations of Total Wine & More hold in-store tastings of wines from Spain and Portugal, including the delicious Vinho Verde.

Saturday sees a gluten-free baking class at BestHealth in the Hanes Mall. Chef Nikki Miller-Ka brings recipes and samples. Register by calling 336.713.BEST.

Also on Saturday, EarthFare holds a job market at 10 a.m. And the Fresh Market hosts a Cascade Fresh Yogurt sampling..
