The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem Announces Auditions for Calendar Girls
The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem will hold auditions for the first show of its 84th Season, Calendar Girls by Tim Firth, on Wednesday, July 25 and Thursday, July 26 at the Arts Council Theatre/Harvest Bible Chapel, 610 Coliseum Drive in Winston-Salem. Auditions will begin at 7 pm. No appointment is necessary, and everyone is welcome to audition.
When Annie’s husband passes away from cancer, she persuades a group of friends to pose au natural for a calendar fundraiser to benefit the hospital. Interest in their charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and the “Calendar Girls” soon find themselves revealing more than they’d intended. Based on a true story – the women raised over £3 million for the Leukemia Research Fund – this heartwarming, comedic tale by is an inspiring story of friendship, hope and determination.
Caitlin Stafford will direct Calendar Girls. There are roles available for nine women (aged 25-70) and 4 men (aged 25-65). Auditions will consist of reading from sides in different groupings. Thursday evening auditions will occur for the first hour; callbacks will begin at 8:15 pm. Actors are encouraged to bring their calendars to the audition, so they can advise of any conflicts with the rehearsal schedule.
Performance dates for Calendar Girls are September 21-23 & 27-30. All performances will be held at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA).
