The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem Announces Auditions for Young Frankenstein
The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem will hold auditions for Young Frankenstein: The Mel Brooks Musical on Monday, August 13 and Tuesday, August 14 at the Winston-Salem Journal building, 418 N. Marshall Street in Winston-Salem. Auditions will begin at 7 pm. No appointment is necessary, and everyone is welcome to audition.
“He’s alive!” This monstrously funny musical, based on Mel Brooks’ Oscar-nominated film, picks up from Mary Shelley’s classic gothic tale. Frederick Frankenstein inherits a castle in Transylvania and meets its unusual inhabitants: Igor, Inga and Frau Blücher. After discovering the secret entrance to his grandfather’s laboratory, Frederick decides to carry on the family experiments and creates a monster of his own.
Philip Powell will direct Young Frankenstein, with music direction by Dan Dodson and choreography by Becky Koza. There are roles available for 20-25 cast members. Please note that while many of the roles are flexible with regard to age, all auditionees must be at least 16 years old. Bring a prepared song (24 measures) and sheet music in the correct key; an accompanist will be provided.
Performance dates for Young Frankenstein are November 2-4 & 8-11. All performances will be held at the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA).
