Theatre Art Galleries Summer Art Camps
Theatre Art Galleries (TAG) of High Point, NC announces our Summer Art Camp lineup for 2018. Regular camps are four days and mini camps are two days. Each camp is located at Theatre Art Galleries, 220 East Commerce Avenue, and lasts from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Camps are taught by experienced art educators and include all materials and equipment and a snack! Four Day Camps $90 for members of TAG / $100 for non-members:
June 25th – 28th Art From Books Ages 4 – 6
Campers will listen to several popular children’s books with amazing illustrations before creating their own artworks based on the story, style, and materials found in the books we read
together. We will use paper, paint, clay, and other materials!
July 9th – 12th Painting Like the Pros Ages 7 – 10
Campers will learn different painting techniques and study the work of masters like Picasso,
Miro, Van Gogh and O’Keeffe. We will try our hand at watercolor, tempera, and acrylic paints
on paper, board, and canvas.
July 16th – 19th How to Draw Basics Ages 6 – 9
This step by step intro to drawing class will teach children how to look for basic shapes in
complex objects. Students will learn to draw buildings, animals, and cartoon people. We will
touch on adding color to our drawings but the focus on this class is improving drawing skills.
July 30 – Aug 2 Manga for Beginners Ages 10 – 14
“Manga” refers to comics and graphic novels created in Japan, but this style of comic is popular worldwide. In this class we will learn to draw traditional face shapes, hairstyles, and body proportions. Students will study existing characters, then use the what they learn to create their own manga style characters.
Two Day Mini-Camps $45 for members of TAG / $50 for non-members:
June 12th & 13th Science in Art Ages 8 – 13:
Students will use scientific experimentation to make amazing art pieces.
August 6th & 7th Wearable Art Ages 8 – 13:
Students will use traditional techniques from cultures around the world to make jewelry and clothing pieces that they can wear.
Theatre Art Galleries is located in downtown High Point at 220 E. Commerce Ave. Gallery
