Jack Long

Name: Jack Long

Catch me on: WUAG 103.1 FM

Show title: “Sunday Jazz”

Show time: 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

Request line: 336.334.5450

What I play: Classic jazz

What you’ll hear: Miles Davis, Art Pepper, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Charlie Parker, Marcus Roberts, Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Short, etc

Why I play it: I love sharing music that people have either never heard or have not heard in a long time. I especially love to highlight an artist from time to time such as Bobby Short, the Mills Brothers or the Ink Spots.

A good starter album: Dave Brubeck — Time Out. “Strange Meadowlark” has the most beautiful opening I think I’ve ever heard.

Best thing about DJing: Sharing the music and the love!

Got in the game: A friend of mine worked in the news department and she suggested I try it over the summer. I guess you could say I took a shine to it.

Service time: Just about three years.

Favorite bands: Wow! Tough one. Roger Miller, the Rat Pack (although Sinatra preferred the name “The Summit”), old Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Van Halen, old Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bobby Short… well, I’m sort of all over the place on that one. I don’t like metal.

Website: razzball.com (Ryan’s note: Awesome fantasy baseball site.)

I’d like to add: KEEP IT LOCKED to WUAG 103.1 on the FM dial!
