Got in the game: I became a DJ when I was 14 DJing in the school talent show.

Why I do it: I’ve always loved to hear a tight blend or cut. I remember listening to the radio and creating my pause mixes. I couldn’t wait till the mix shows came on the weekends. I used to envision that it was me mixing the records.

That’s how I fell in love with mixing and scratching.

Influences: DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Cash Money, DJ Premier, Pete Rock

First pro gig: My first true professional gig paying money was many years after the school talent show, I was 21 and I DJed a wedding reception for a young lady I worked with. I did pretty well and it’s been on ever since.

Studio work: I’ve done some studio work producing for artists such as Se7en Da Pantha’, Equinox, Jon Blaq, Ms. Nokz, the Alliance, Bron G and K-Mac. I am also on RITK’s Ink Escape album laying down some cuts and scratches. I blended Bron G’s Christ Classic Jazz album and have done several mix tapes for Blessed Entertainment.

Favorite technique: I like to speed chase, also known as beat juggling.

Signature mix: Bron G’s Christ Classic Jazz. Look for it on CD Baby.

Personal playlist: Neo Soul such as Eric Roberson, Sy Smith. Underground Hip Hop… I’m digging what Humble Beast is doing now and of course Bron G, John Blaq, SILENT War and anything produced by Sean Pen (Ruslan, the Breax).

I’m into jazz like Gretchen Parlato and Robert Glasper.

Favorite albums: Right now I’m stuck on Elzi’s Elmatic… lol

My gear: Two Technics 1200s and a Pioneer DJM 707
