Just so you’ll know that I’m not a completely heartless and cruel bastard when it comes to wannabe models (see “Crashing the Gate,” p. 42), I’m posting this pic of my choice for Best in Show at the “America’s Next Top Model” search held last week at High Point’s Oak Hollow Mall. Her name is Chelsea Qualls, 22, and that’s her boy Ryder in her arms. The two recently moved here from Monroe, La. (I’ve always had a weak spot for Louisiana girls) but she originally hails from Buffalo, NY. She was unaware just how friendly the city of Greensboro is to folks from the City of Good Neighbors – I personally know more than a dozen folks from Buffalo who now call the Gate City Home – but she does know about UNCG, where she’ll be starting fashion merchandising classes in the fall. Unless, of course, she secures a spot with the rest of the hotties on “ANTM,” which, in my opinion, is likely.
