It’s not often that our staff photographer Lee Adams gets to shoot one of his own, but that’s exactly what he did in the case of Katie Klein, this week’s Page Three model. Likewise, it’s not every day that Katie, a professional photographer, stands on the other side of the lens. Katie, 27, is a Greensboro native (Grimsley High, Class of ’96) who left town to pursue a photography degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design before moving out to LA where she ended up working with noted shooter (and North Carolina native) David LaChapelle. She came back to Greensboro two years ago. ‘“I decided I didn’t want to be part of the fashion industry anymore,’” she says. She was glad to get back home. In LA, she says, you can’t trust anybody. ‘“People make fake business cards, give fake names,’” she says. ‘“Unless you meet somebody through someone else you can’t trust them. I missed that about the South ‘— somebody will tell you their real name.’” Check out her stuff at katiekleinphotography.com.
