This week’s Page Three model, Mary Vu, has a lot of things going for her. She’s studying nursing at GTCC and hopes to get her master’s degree from UNCG in the next couple of years. She works in the sushi bar at Kabuto’s, which many of us here at YES! Weekly are convinced is a service-industry gold mine. And she’s from Louisiana, which brings her nearer and dearer to at least one staffer’s heart here in our offices. But perhaps the most interesting thing about her is her former life in the pageant circuit, which started for her back in Louisiana at Alexandria Senior High School. “I did a Junior Miss in 2004,” she says, flashing that pageant-girl smile. “I won Miss Congeniality. And I won the Lady of Troy pageant at my high school my senior year.” (Her senior year, by the way, was 2005. Anybody else feel old?) Of the pageant life, she says, “I’m out of all that… the girls are really catty backstage. Onstage it’s all smiles, but backstage it’s like… crazy. They’lll be like, “Oh god, I can’t believe you’re wearing that dress.'” Yeah, Mary – tell us something we don’t know.
