Local Talent: Tyne Hedrick
“Is it bad that I look like a cupcake?” asks this week’s Page Three model, Tyne Hedrick, as we head out the door from our Trade Street digs. Not a problem, Tyne. We love cupcakes. A few doors down at the Atelier Studios she shows her work and gives demonstrations, and has used her eye for color on a series of paintings that hangs until the end of March. “I definitely call myself a portrait artist,” she says. “Even when I paint animals it’s like a portrait of the animal.” For you art geeks out there: In her newer series of aquatic paintings, Tyne uses the glazing techniques of the old masters – a monochromatic base, linseed oil, blue pigment – to achieve the look of water.
