Abbotswood at Irving Park Announces the Completion of Initial Construction for New Independent Living Cottages
Greensboro, N.C.—December 14, 2017— Abbotswood at Irving Park, the Triad’s only month-to-month senior living community, announced the completion of the first 10 cottages surrounding their residential campus. These cottages will welcome a community of vibrant seniors looking to downsize. The community will complete construction of an additional 12 cottages for a total of 22 in January 2018.
Located in central Greensboro, the Abbotswood at Irving Park community hopes the new cottages attract independent-minded seniors like longtime Triad residents Peter and Darlene Young. “The layout of the cottages with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a two-car garage is very appealing,” said Peter Young. “We were very impressed with the quality of the construction.”
Cottage residents will have full access to the Abbotswood at Irving Park campus and care services. Abbotswood at Irving Park’s core mission remains focused on providing an approachable environment that will allow senior residents to feel a sense of belonging and connection as they thrive together in the pursuit of shared passions.
“We kept hearing that potential residents were interested in the month-to-month model, but they were having difficulty wrapping their heads around downsizing from their home of more than 50 years to apartment-style living,” said Allison Pait, Executive Director of Abbotswood at Irving Park. “The cottages are spacious and offer a softer step in downsizing to a senior living community.”
On December 15, 2017, Abbotswood at Irving Park will hold an open house tour of the new cottages between 3:30–5:00 p.m. for prospective residents and their families. Light refreshments and festive finger foods will be served. The open house is open to all and reservations are not required.
