Family-Friendly Show “Anything Can Talk!” Starring Ventriloquist David Pendleton Coming to the High Point Theatre
High Point, North Carolina — The High Point Theatre will officially kick off its “Passport to Entertainment” performances for 2020 Sun., Jan. 26, at 2:00 PM, when David Pendleton brings his lovable comedic cast of characters to life in “Anything Can Talk!” Not only amazing audiences with his ability to make them believe that anything can talk, the sharp-tongued Aunt Tilly, trouble-maker Mack Elroy, dopey hound dog Buford, and slightly-misguided vulture, Vern, will guarantee a good time is had by every member of the family.
Quirky cast of characters sure to keep audience laughing from start to finish.
A 20-year veteran entertainer and one of the nation’s premiere ventriloquists, David Pendleton started in the business as many others – a fascination with puppets as a youngster and the television shows that featured them, one of his favorites being “Mr. Moose” on Captain Kangaroo, as well as all the creatures on Sesame Street. For his sixth birthday, his grandparents bought him the one toy he had been begging for, a “Charley McCarthy” dummy. He notes, “My grandmother was clever enough to include with the gift a record made by ventriloquist Jimmy Nelson. Jimmy Nelson’s record is probably responsible for teaching a whole new generation of ventriloquists the craft.” At age eight, he performed for the first time on a real stage for an audience of cub scouts and, soon after, was entertaining audiences at birthday parties, local service clubs, and church functions. In high school he made a real name for himself for the school’s annual talent show with a professional ventriloquist figure named “Otis.” During his college years at Ohio University he landed a job performing at the theme park where he expanded his act and greatly honed his ventriloquist skills.
David Pendleton’s flawless technique as a ventriloquist sets him apart from just about any other ventriloquist. He will not only amaze the audience with his ability to make them believe that anything can talk, but his comedy act will also keep them laughing from start to finish. David brings to his show a cast of comedic characters including lovable but blunt Aunt Tilly, a 94-year-old spinster; the classic quick-witted trouble maker, Mack Elroy; the dopey yet adorable hound dog, Buford; and the slightly misguided albino vulture, Vern. And, no show would be complete without a few surprise appearances from members of the audience as well!
“Whether you’re eight or eighty, this seasoned professional ventriloquist will keep you in stitches,” notes David Briggs, High Point Theatre Director. “By the end of the show, Pendleton’s friendly and relatable characters will have you truly believing that just maybe ‘anything can talk!’”
