ART ON THE ROCKS AT GREENHILL: Party, fundraiser Fri., Oct. 19 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM
(GREENSBORO, NC) GreenHill is hosting a party and fundraiser on Fri., Oct. 19, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Coupled with art activities, a scavenger hunt, art demonstration, and three curated cocktails/mocktails at drink stations in the studios and gallery. Art on the Rocks as an outlet for members of the community to connect, get a chance to meet individuals of our diverse community that we might not have had the pleasure of meeting yet, and do something fresh, inspiring, and unique.

Throughout the evening, participants are invited to design their own cozies, explore, paint and play in the studios, watch a pottery demonstration and/or participate in the scavenger hunt for the chance to win tickets to upcoming workshops and events at GreenHill. GreenHill’s galleries will be open to view the current exhibitions Beyond Ornament, an exhibition featuring studio jewelry and Analog, photography exhibition. Participants can play with paint, clay and other materials in the studios.
The scavenger hunt is an interactive way to learn about art, artists, materials, and making processes. Riddles and clues help guide participants through the galleries as you search for art and participate in activities. As a team, you will post your findings on Instagram with a special hashtag. The winners will be drawn and announced at the end of the evening for the top prize of two tickets to Collector’s Choice ($180 value).
Lindsay DeBlasio, Art Educator at GreenHill, came up with Art on the Rocks idea as a fundraiser for GreenHill. She said “I have always enjoyed gallery receptions and going to openings. I hope Art on the Rock attendees are excited to find that we can liven a Friday night in our unique space while you get to experience the arts in a really fun way.”
DeBlasio will also lead a pottery demonstration which will involve the start to finish process of throwing clay, altering and manipulating the material, and exploring form and surface design. DeBlasio has been doing pottery for the past five years will be on the wheel making basic forms and show people how to cut them up and altering the material with surface design. She will combine hand building techniques with wheel techniques with various tools and found objects.
Fall-flavored curated cocktails will be available; The Casino (gin), Black Bourbon Tea, and a Spiced Ginger Shandy (rum). Non-alcoholic versions of the drinks will also be available.
