GreenHill Center – One of North Carolina’s most prominent and upscale events to support the arts will take place under the stars of Greensboro’s Center City Park on May 3, 2018. Hosted by GreenHill, the biennial Art à la Carte fundraiser will include a five-course Caribbean inspired meal prepared by an internationally renowned chef from Mexico, the premiere of GreenHill’s “Beauty of the Beast” art exhibit and silent and live auctions with unique items such as a behind the scenes jewelry tour in Paris.
WILL SHOWCASE GREENHILL BIENNIAL FUNDRAISER
Chef Pedro Abascal, executive chef at Thompson Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya, will fly into Greensboro to prepare the dinner for more than 140 guests who will gather from communities across the state. Abascal, a native of Mexico, completed his culinary education in Spain before extensively travelling Europe and eventually training under three-star Michelin chef Pascal Barbot at L’Astrance in Paris. Joe Curran, proprietor and head chef of Winston-Salem’s 1703 Restaurant, will partner with Abascal to prepare the dinner of Caribbean themed selections.
Tickets for the event start at $2,500 per couple. The evening will open with guests enjoying specialty cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a preview of the live and silent auction while meandering through the works of 33 artists illuminating the animal kingdom, their natural habitat and the wonders of nature. Guests will then stroll to the glass tent in the park across from GreenHill to enjoy a sensational five-course dinner and a live auction. The live and silent auctions include more than 20 spectacular items, including fine art, one-of-a-kind jewelry, a hunting adventure in Argentina and a week’s stay at an oceanfront retreat. All proceeds are used to provide essential support for GreenHill’s programming for adults and children, rotating exhibitions, artist talks, workshops and arts and wellness classes.
Over the past 18 years, Art à la Carte has become a highly successful event blending food, art, friends and camaraderie to support North Carolina art. The event has featured a wide range of highly acclaimed chefs such as James Beard award winner Vivian Howard of Chef & the Farmer, Andrea Reusing of Lantern, Sam Beall of Blackberry Farm and Bud and Karen Barker of Magnolia Grill.
Limited sponsorships and tickets are still available for the May 3 event.
