Branford Marsalis Quartet to Play Texas Pete® Tongue & Groove Concert Series at The Ramkat
(Winston-Salem, N.C.) — Following the success of the inaugural sold-out Tongue & Groove concert with Ben Folds, Texas Pete® and The Ramkat have announced that Branford Marsalis Quartet will headline the second concert in the series on January 14, 2020.
“We can’t wait to play the Tongue & Groove concert series sponsored by Texas Pete,” says Branford Marsalis. “The Ramkat is probably the smallest venue we’ve played in many, many years, so everyone in attendance that night in Winston-Salem will be in for a really special treat.”
A resident of the Raleigh-Durham, NC area since 2001, saxophonist Branford Marsalis is one of the most influential and revered figures in contemporary music. The NEA Jazz Master, Grammy Award winner and Tony Award nominee is equally at home performing concertos with symphony orchestras and sitting in with members of the Grateful Dead, but the core of his musical universe remains the Branford Marsalis Quartet. Formed in 1986, the Quartet today includes pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis and drummer Justin Faulkner.
“Texas Pete is proud to help bring the Branford Marsalis Quartet to our neighbors,” says Katie Chaffin, Marketing Manager for Garner Foods. “The influence Branford Marsalis has had on so many musical genres makes him, and the rest of the ensemble, an incredible addition to the Tongue & Groove Concert Series. We couldn’t be happier to continue to grow this concert series and have the opportunity to share the work of so many important artists with the community.”
“We are so grateful to our friends and partners at Texas Pete for their commitment to bringing world-class artists to Winston-Salem with the Tongue & Groove concert series,” says Andy Tennille, co-owner of The Ramkat. “By presenting these shows at a venue like The Ramkat, the audience gets to experience these artists in an intimate, once-in-a-lifetime setting. We can’t wait to have Branford and his quartet in to share their incredible music.”
