Coliseum Complex Events draw more than 76,000 in attendance March 21-26
Greensboro, NC – An action-packed and diverse lineup of events beginning Tuesday, March 21 through Sunday, March 26 drew a combined attendance of more than 76,000 to the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
Winter Jam, the annual contemporary Christian music concert, was the largest single-day event with an attendance of 18,444 on Saturday evening. Earlier in the week, country music sensation Florida Georgia Line drew over 8,600 to the Coliseum on March 23.
For those looking for sporting events, the Coliseum Complex’s Fieldhouse hosted two Greensboro Swarm games (March 23 and 25) that drew a combined total of 3,863 basketball fans. The Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) also got in the action as it played host to the STAR Aquatics Tar Heel States meet that saw 906 swimmers compete in front of a combined crowd of 4,045 over three days (March 24-26).
Family shows continue to be a staple of the Coliseum Complex’s lineup and the return of the UniverSoul Circus drew sold-out crowds to its big top tent set up in the Coliseum parking lot. Over 13 performances beginning Tuesday, March 21 through Sunday, March 26, the Soul Circus shattered last year’s attendance totals with a combined total of nearly 28,000 in attendance. In the Coliseum, fan favorites the Harlem Globetrotters made their annual stop at the Coliseum on Sunday, drawing over 5,200 fans.
In addition to hosting several meetings during the week, the Special Events Center was the site of the four-day (March 23-26) Southern Ideal Home Show that attracted over 7, 800 patrons.
“This past weekend is a perfect example of the amazing versatility of this multi-venue Complex that allows us to host a wide variety of simultaneous events that attract an incredibly diverse audience,” said Coliseum Complex managing director Matt Brown. “Weeks such as this are a prime example of why this facility is such a vital part of our community and one of the leading economic generators for our region.”
