View the photo gallery here. The air thick with heat was soon forgotten once arriving at the Grand Opening Party for Preyer Brewing and Crafted: The Art of Street Food. The dining space boomed with conversation as folks retreated into the air conditioning. People sipped on drinks and devoured the low country boil foods. Craw fish, shrimp, Mexican street corn, potatoes and sausage came in a simple container, letting the food speak for itself.Fran Showalter, a Greensboro resident and first time visitor to The Art of Street Food, had a lot to say about the event. “I love this space, and these drinks are delicious. I bought three different drinks for my group and we all shared and sipped all evening. The food was really good; I’d like to check out the full menu next time. I would definitely come back even if just for the drinks.” Chandeliers hung from the ceiling. Graffiti donned the walls. The juxtaposition of urban atmosphere and the New Orleans-style foods helped create a buzz in a growing section of Greensboro. Crystal Bright and the Silver Hands kicked off the music outside with their eclectic sounds. Even in the sweltering heat they pulled off cool tunes for the audience. The Ends rocked out after the sun set and kept the party going until closing out around 9 p.m. Outside everyone circulated between food trucks and the new Preyer Brewing Co.As if checking out a new restaurant and brewery in town wasn’t a good enough reason, a portion of the proceeds from the grand opening was donated to Triad Health Project.
