Day in the Park Artist Highlight: Hoot and Holler performing at City Lake Park
In just a few weeks, the beautiful landscape of City Lake Park in Jamestown will be full of music, local artists, food trucks, and folklife exhibitors! One of the performing artists that the High Point Arts Council is thrilled to welcome to this year’s Day in the Park is the folk duo Hoot and Holler from Asheville, NC. Hoot and Holler are set to perform on the Carousel Stage at this year’s festival from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m.
Known for their renditions of old-time folk songs as well as original compositions, Hoot and Holler consists of Mark Killanski on guitar and Amy Alvey on fiddle. Both Killanski and Alvey combine their instrumentation with heartfelt vocals and lyrics that draw listeners in at every performance. Hoot and Holler’s musical talents have awarded them first place at the South Carolina State Fiddler’s Championship and third place in the traditional band category at the Appalachian String Band Festival in Clifftop, WV.
In addition to this year’s three stages of live music, Day in the Park is set to feature over thirty local artist and craft vendors, food trucks, art activities, and folklife exhibitors. Day in the Park will take place on Saturday, September 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at High Point City Lake Park (602 W. Main Street, Jamestown, NC). Admission to Day in the Park is free and open to all ages.
