DOWNTOWN PARTNERSHIP REVEALS ART INSTALLATION FACES OF DIVERSITY: GREENSBORO PROJECT
GREENSBORO, NC (November 28) – Faces of Diversity: Greensboro Project’s permanent art installation, a giant tryptic of three faces from Greensboro, will be revealed in the Greensboro Cultural Center (200 N Davie St.) on Fri., Dec. 6 at 6:00pm. The piece, made entirely of upcycled glass, is part of an international social art project by artist Edwin Gil and contains 827 fingerprints from Greensboro, celebrating the diversity of our community for years to come. The fingerprints were collected from participants at panel discussions and community events held in October at the International Civil Rights Center & Museum, Greensboro History Museum, GreenHill, and LeBauer Park.
The three faces represented in the installation include Raven Dial-Stanley, Christopher Allen-Holmes, II., and Sgt. Victor H. Sanchez, who will be present at the unveiling next Friday. The artist, Edwin Gil, will also be in attendance to speak about Faces of Diversity: Greensboro Project.
This project is made possible through Spark Grant funding from Downtown Greensboro, Action Greensboro, and synerG, as well as the Weaver Foundation, Katherine Weaver City of Greensboro, Greensboro Downtown Parks, Cemala Foundation, and Quaintance Weaver. Additional partners include Casa Azul of Greensboro, The Fresh Market, ClubFitness Greensboro, and Dance Project.
