Gears and Guitars Music Festival features Stone Temple Pilots, Trampled by Turtles, The Infamous Stringdusters, North Mississippi All-Stars and more
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.: Also known as The Biggest Party on Two Wheels, the 2019 Gears and Guitars Music Festival will be lighting up Bailey Park again this Memorial Day weekend. And this year’s lineup promises to be the best yet with headliner Stone Temple Pilots closing out the festival on Sunday evening.

as well as Southern-rock and bluegrass favorites
Tickets are now on sale for the event, which is held in conjunction with the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic and features three days of family-friendly entertainment in downtown Winston-Salem. In addition to Grammy Award-winner Stone Temple Pilots, this year’s Gears and Guitars event will also feature Southern-rock icon Drive-By Truckers and progressive bluegrass bands Trampled by Turtles and The Infamous Stringdusters.
Tickets can be purchased through Etix or at the venue on the days of the events. All concerts are general admission, and gates will open at 5 p.m. each day.
The festival will also include live music at the Winston-Salem Dash baseball game at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, May 23. Watchtower, a Dave Matthews tribute band, will play in the Left Field Knoll. This concert is free with a ticket for the game.
“This year’s Gears and Guitars lineup delivers our broadest range of music yet,” says Ray Boden, the festival’s executive director. “We’ve worked hard to put together a great lineup of nationally known artists and regional acts. These artists include iconic rock stars, rock-and-roll phenoms, alt-rock legends and bluegrass innovators. Every day will offer an amazing concert to complement the world-class cycling at the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic.”
One of the country’s most prestigious cycling events, the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic will kick off Sat., May 25, with both professional and amateur criterium races. In addition, a Fondo. Fundo. Festi. is planned for Sun., May 26, in Lewisville and will feature three community bike rides of various lengths, food trucks, and a kid’s bike rodeo and helmet fittings sponsored by Novant Health. The weekend’s event will culminate on Mon., May 27, when more than 400 riders compete in the professional road races.
All of the weekend’s cycling events are free and open to the public, although there is a registration fee for competitors. Participants can register at BikeReg.com/winstonsalem.
