Lalah Hathaway Concert to benefit the Union Baptist Church Internship Program
Grammy award winner Lalah Hathaway is the daughter of nationally known soul singer Donny Hathaway. Her soulful career began in 1990 with the release of her first album. Since that time, she has gone on to release multiple albums and win numerous Grammy’s.
The purpose of the Union Baptist Church College Internship Program is to give college students an opportunity to develop their talent in the context of the church and community environment. During the six-week program students will be immersed in the local community by participating in local government, volunteering with non-profit agencies, and participating in areas of interest within the church that correspond with their areas of study.
“We want our students to be prepared for the real world. We are arming them with the necessary tools to be productive and successful adults, who will return to serve the community that has given so much to them, said senior pastor Bishop Sir Walter Lee Mack, Jr. There are so many lessons that cannot be taught in a classroom, and it is our responsibility to make sure they are exposed to the right people and resources.”
Applications are now being accepted for the paid internship program. Rising college sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible. Visit unionbaptistwsnc.org for more information and to apply.
