High Point Arts Council’s Day in the Park Artist Highlight: Buck Meek
This year’s Day in the Park festival is set to feature three stages of live music with performing artists from all across the United States. An artist that we are thrilled will be joining us at this year’s festival is Buck Meek from the indie rock band Big Thief based out of Brooklyn, NY. Buck Meek will be performing at 3:30 p.m. on the Carousel Stage at this year’s festival.
In 2016 and 2017 Big Thief released their first two albums. Both of which garnered much praise from music outlets across the globe, with their sophomore album Capacity being considered one of the top five albums of 2017 by NPR, SPIN, and Newsweek. Buck Meek, who is the guitarist for Big Thief, released his debut solo album in May of 2018 and has already received positive reviews from sources like Pitchfork, Paste Magazine, and NPR. Buck Meek’s music blends his Texas-twang with subtle guitar riffs that invite listeners to focus on Meek’s intricate songwriting.
In addition to this year’s three stages of live music, Day in the Park is set to feature over thirty local artists and craft vendors, food trucks, art activities, and folklife exhibitors. Day in the Park will take place on Saturday, September 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at High Point City Lake Park. Admission to Day in the Park is free and open to all ages.
