HIGH POINT SECURES NATIONAL TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS TOP GUN – USA SPORTS BASEBALL
HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 26, 2019 — Top Gun – USA Sports Baseball has chosen High Point, NC as the host city for the National Tournament of Champions. The tournament will be held July 31 – Aug. 2, 2020 and games will be played at Ed Price Baseball Field, Deep River Recreation Center, Johnson Street Sports Complex and the new BB&T Point.
“Top Gun-USA Sports Baseball is excited to partner with a number of entities in the greater High Point area. The High Point CVB, High Point Parks and Recreation, and the High Point Rockers have all become a part of the Top Gun-USA Sports Baseball team for the National Tournament of Champions,” says Donnie Broome, Top Gun – USA Sports Director. “In 2020, Top Gun-USA Sports Baseball will be bringing one of our major baseball events, the “National Tournament of Champions” to this area offering all of our 2020 baseball winners a “Free Paid Berth.”
The tournament is projected to bring 75 teams to the area with an estimated 3,000 attendees and an economic impact of $901,435.
“Top Gun – USA Sports has not played a tournament in High Point before, so this is a huge win and should attract a lot of teams due to our central location,” says Nancy Bowman, Director of Sales & Marketing for the HPCVB. “With the tournament being held during the summer you can expect families to tie in a vacation visiting nearby attractions while in the area.”
BB&T Point was a major factor when considering High Point and the High Point Rockers Assistant General Manager Christian Heimall was receptive to the needs of the Top Gun organization. “It’s our goal to fill this stadium outside of the Rockers schedule and create a year-round calendar of activities. This is a natural fit for us and we look forward to working with the High Point CVB, High Point Parks and Recreation and Top Gun to create an experience for these teams and their families,” says Heimall.
“We have a good relationship with local Top Gun directors so to be able leverage that and partner with the High Point CVB and High Point Rockers to bring the National Tournament of Champions to High Point is a win-win for all of us,” says Lee Tillery, Director of High Point Parks and Recreation.
The National Tournament of Champions will be open to the public and include ages, 8u, 9u, 10u, 11u, 12u, 13u-80 feet, 13u-90 feet, 14u, 15u, 16u and HS.
