Santa is Coming to Town! Visit Santa & Live Llamas at The Katharine, Dec 16
On Sun., Dec. 16 from 12-3pm, children can meet Santa and visit with the llamas from Divine Llama. And every Saturday & Sunday in December, The Katharine will offer a Santa’s Station for children to write letters to Santa, enjoy macarons and a decadent hot cocoa bar (complete with marshmallows, candy canes and shaved chocolate), for $12 per child. Additionally, guests who present a ticket stub from UNCSA’s Nutcracker on the day of the performance will receive a 10% on their meal. New Year’s Eve Pre-Fixe & Champagne Toast
Ring in the New Year with a classic French prix fixe menu & celebratory champagne toast! The menu feature three courses for $75 per person with the option to add wine pairings – selected by sommelier Christina Morris – for an additional $25 per person. Chef Adam Barnett is offering a special holiday pre-fixe menu, inspired by Katharine Reynolds’s menus from in the Reynolda House archives. The menu features Barnett’s adaptation of Katharine’s favorite wintry dishes, including Rutabaga and Sweet Potato Bisque, Roasted Pheasant with Chestnut Stuffing and Walnut and Coffee Pound Cake with Cocoa Nibs, currently featured in Our State Magazine’s December issue. ABOUT CHEF ADAM BARNETT
Chef Adam Barnett, a native of Columbus, Ohio, attended the New England Culinary Institute and began his culinary career in traditional French bistro and brasserie kitchens. Barnett is known for his fresh, modern approach to classic French cuisine, following work with renowned Washington, DC restaurants such as West End Bistro by Eric Ripert at the Ritz Carlton and Poste Brasserie. Barnett’s culinary pedigree also includes training alongside Chef Patrick O’Connell at The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia and at Sierra Mar at the Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, California. Prior to The Katharine, Barnett was the Executive Chef at Lyon Hall in Arlington, a bustling restaurant in the Clarendon neighborhood, serving a classic French brasserie menu. Chef Barnett joined The Katharine as Executive Chef in June 2017 and has reinvigorated it with timeless French brasserie fare celebrating locally grown foods and modern technique.
