HPU Hosts Free Arts Splash Concert
HIGH POINT, N.C., June 7, 2017 – High Point University will host an evening of free music featuring Laney Jones and the Spirits starting at 6 p.m. on June 25 at the Cottrell Amphitheater. The concert is part of the Arts Splash summer concert series organized by the High Point Arts Council. It is free and open to the public; tickets are not required.
Laney Jones is a singer-songwriter from Florida. According to her official website, many have tried to define her musical style as folk-rock or indie, but she dubs her own style as “retro majestic,” a blend of 60s and 70s influences and modern sonic elements. Her most recent release is the self-titled 2016 album “Laney Jones,” a folk-rock record brimming with retro sounds, philosophical speculations and commentary on youth and growing up.
HPU partners with the High Point Arts Council each year to host one of the performances from the Arts Splash series. This season’s lineup features eight concerts and includes Motown, New Orleans brass, soul, folk, Latin and gospel performances held at various locations across High Point throughout the summer.
Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. If there is a chance of rain, call 336-889-ARTS after 4 p.m. on the day of the concert to get the latest update on the event.
