Iron Not Strong As High Point Baseball Announces Top Six Names
High Point, NC – During the first elimination week over 2,500 voters from across North Carolina weighed in on their favorite names for the new High Point Baseball team, which is slated to join the Atlantic League for the 2019 season. The Hush Puppies, Iron Dragons, and Iron Eagles were eliminated from future consideration. However, based upon fan feedback looking to include both the history of furniture and textiles RockerSox was added as a Wild Card.
Iron Dragons, Iron Eagles & Hush Puppies Eliminated – Wild Card Added
Fan voting begins on June 15th for the remaining Serious Six (6) Names plus the Wild Card at www.highpointbaseball.com. Each week all previous vote totals for each name are eliminated and fans will vote for their favorite remaining names starting at zero. On Thursday, June 21st four more names will be eliminated resulting in the Big & Final Three (3) Names. The final team name and primary logo will be announced as part of a BB&T Progress Party on Thursday, July 12th at 6PM.
“Iron in and of itself is strong, but it just didn’t manifest its strength when combined with Dragons or Eagles, while Hush Puppies were flat out deep fried”, said Ken Lehner, High Point President. “However, we had a significant number of fans requesting that we tie in the historical perspective of both furniture and textiles and thus RockerSox was added as a wild card.”
The remaining Serious Six (6) Names plus the Wild Card in alphabetical order are as follows:
