North Carolina-based Nonprofit Teams Up with Kendra Scott to Raise Money to Sponsor the Daily Expenses of Service Dogs Helping Veterans, Children, and Adults.
maCares sponsored service dog team, Brittany Hawley who is the current Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina USA, will be at the Kendra Scott In Store Shopping Fundraiser for maCares on January 31st! Come by and visit with Brittany and her service dog, GRIFFIN, learn about her platform, Tassels Without Barriers, and enjoy a new shop while supporting a great cause!
Kendra Scott has joined maCares in sponsoring Brittany in the Ms. Wheelchair USA pageant! Brittany will be selecting pieces from the Kendra Scott jewelry collection to wear in the July pageant.
“I was inspired to do the pageant because I want to encourage all individuals to reach for their dreams. I feel all individuals, not based on disability, have the right to define themselves. I have seen, firsthand, what it is like to live with a disability, learning and physical.” shared Brittany.
Brittany & GRIFFIN recently earned their Occupational Therapy Masters degrees from Clarkson University.
She said, “After developing Complex Regional Pain Syndrome [a chronic pain disorder], I was told that I would not graduate high school or make it through college. I have learned that other people’s perspectives can be more disabling than the actual disorder itself. Other people’s doubts have driven me to achieve the goals I have set out in my life.” shared Brittany.
Brittany & GIRFFIN are one of the many sponsored maCares & faith Cares service dog teams in a continual sponsorship program which helps improve the quality of life of veterans, children, and adults. The maCares & faith Cares Service Dog Support Program relieves the financial burden of the daily care costs for service dogs (re-certification training, veterinary, medications, grooming, and daily care), allowing the person to focus on living a fulfilling life with their service dog.
faith Cares is a veteran-exclusive level within our Service Dog Support Program which helps veterans living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and/or Traumatic Brain Injury. This program is named in memory of the late U.S. Army Sergeant Faith Hinkley, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
