NC Musician, Clay Howard, partners with New York visual artist, Robert Singer, to create new art- focused record label- Max Height Records
Greensboro, NC, January 4, 2019: North Carolina musician, Clay Howard, has partnered with NY visual artist, Robert Singer, to create a new record label, Max Height Records. The new label will distribute limited edition releases on vinyl. In addition to new original music, each release will contain a print from a visual artist, each signed and numbered.
The first release will be Clay Howard’s follow-up to 2015’s “Who the Hell is Clay Howard.” The new album is titled, “doesn’t know who you are either..” and will contain a limited edition signed print from Robert Singer, “Untitled (Jomy) 2018.”
“I am very excited about this new venture,” said Clay Howard. “I was shopping my new album to a couple independent labels, and my friend Robert Singer asked me why we don’t just do it ourselves…. And frankly- he had a point.” Clay continued, “Robert has been painting for a number of years and has just recently launched a website to showcase these works. When the question of album art came about- the opportunity to marry music and visual art together was born.”
Clay Howard doesn’t know who you are either.. will be limited to 200 copies, with signed and numbered prints contained within. Each record will also contain a download card for the listener to add to their digital library, however the album will not be released digitally until 6 months after release date.
“After watching my last two releases sell less and less, while the streaming numbers for those records went up, I wanted to take a little more control of the environment this album is released into, “said Clay Howard. “My last album received over 13,000 streams in 2018, and I am thankful for each listen, but the pay per stream is simply unsustainable for an independent artist like myself. By holding out on a digital release, we hope to increase demand for the physical album, and remind people that music is a tangible thing, not a click on your phone.”
Clay Howard doesn’t know who you are either.. will be released in late Spring via the website:
