North Carolina Folk Festival Announces Call for Artisans and Craftspeople to Participate in NC Makers Marketplace
Greensboro, N.C., February 27, 2018 — Artisans and craftspeople who can provide a unique shopping experience for thousands of North Carolina Folk Festival attendees are invited to submit applications to participate in the North Carolina Makers Marketplace at the 2018 Festival. In 2017, the Folk Festival attracted more than 162,000 attendees to downtown Greensboro for the FREE, three-day weekend. Organizers expect attendance to increase by as much as 30% or more in 2018.
The North Carolina Makers Marketplace, which has been a tremendous success at the Festival each year, will be located again on North Elm Street, between Lindsay and Bellemeade. An anticipated 50 to 60 artists will participate in the Marketplace in 2018.
The free event, September 7-9, 2018, will feature hundreds of performers on multiple stages and attract as many as 170,000 visitors to downtown Greensboro
In keeping with the National Folk Festival’s overarching focus on the traditional arts, culture, and heritage of all Americans, the North Carolina Makers Marketplace will feature the juried, handmade creations of the finest artists and craftspeople from the North Carolina region. Festival Director Amy Grossmann said, “The Arts Marketplace has two goals: 1) to provide our region’s most talented artists with an outlet to exhibit and sell their creations; and, 2) to provide festival-goers with an opportunity to take home truly unique, hand-crafted mementos.”

11:59 pm on Friday, March 16, 2018. A panel comprised of North Carolina artists and arts leaders will
evaluate all applications.
