(Greensboro, NC) — On March 14 (3.14) starting at 6pm, Forge Greensboro is gearing up to do Pi Day their way: celebrating making, Raspberry Pi micro-controllers and delicious pies.
The Forge’s Raspberry Pi Day will host a Raspberry Pi Build Competition promoting creative and critical thinking for all to participate and challenge themselves, anyone can enter, anyone can win!
In addition to the Raspberry Pi Build Competition, the Forge will be hosting a pie fundraiser benefiting their 2019 programming. The Raspberry Pi Day event is sponsored by TCDI, Easy Peasy Decadent Desserts, Papa John’s Pizza, and Forge member NCBob.
Forge members and Greensboro community members will demonstrate their Raspberry Pi-based robotics & electronics projects and guests will vote on the most innovative, unique, and fun builds. Slices of dessert pie, thanks to Easy Peasy Decadent Desserts, as well as pizza pie, thanks to Papa John’s Pizza, will be available for a $1 per slice donation.
Bob Gusek (NCBob), long-time Forge member and electronics instructor and enthusiast will be participating in the Raspberry Pi Build Competition. “Raspberry Pi’s are single board computers that can run a variety of operating systems and can be used in a wide variety of applications from diy projects to commercial and industrial control systems and consumer electronics at a very reasonable price,” says Gusek about the applications of the Raspberry Pi computers.
Jennie Savage, the Forge’s Programs Coordinator, is excited for the event. “Our Raspberry Pi Day event is a great, free way for the community to learn about popular electronics devices and their applications,” she says about the event. “It is also a great way for those who are familiar with Raspberry Pi’s to challenge themselves and meet other makers in the Raspberry Pi community.”
Please note: Regular parking at the Forge will be disrupted during this event due to the construction on the Eugene Street bridge. Please park in the gravel lot on Bain St or enjoy free downtown street parking after 6p.
