Richard Petty Museum and Petty’s Garage to Hold “Moonshine Run” Fundraiser
(Randleman, NC) The sport of stock car racing was, in large part, born out of the “sport” of driving souped-up cars down back roads as decoys for moonshine runners. In recognition of that heritage, the Richard Petty Museum and Petty’s Garage is teaming with Old Nick Williams Farm and Distillery for a symbolic Moonshine Run on Saturday, August 4, beginning at 2pm.
The Moonshine Run begins at Petty’s Garage in Level Cross, and winds through scenic back roads to Old Nick Williams Farm and Distillery in Lewisville. Cars, trucks, and motorcycles are welcome to participate in the run, which culminates with a BBQ dinner, adult beverages, and live music from the Flint Hill Bluegrass Band.
“The Moonshine Run will give folks a chance to show off their vehicles, make a fun drive, and support the Petty Museum, which preserves the heritage of Petty Engineering and Petty Enterprises, a family business having a fundamental formative influence on American motorsports and on automotive design, construction, and safety.” said Sharon Farlow executive director of the Petty Museum.
Entry fee is $75 per person, and registration is required to participate.
