Sebastian King Launches Exploratory Campaign for State Senate, District 27 vs Trudy Wade
HIGH POINT, N.C., May 23, 2019 – Sebastian King, Vice President of a small family business, Triad Golf Today, announced his plan to file paperwork with the state to form an exploratory campaign for State Senate, District 27.
This announcement comes days before Memorial Day weekend in honor of King’s grandfather and great grandfather. Both served in the United States ARMY during war time. His grandfather served in Vietnam receiving a purple heart. His great grandfather served in WWII as a medic, and was awarded the EAME Theatre Campaign Ribbon with 2 bronze stars. They both witnessed their friends and fellow soldiers make the ultimate sacrifice. Their dedication to protecting our country has been at the center of King’s desire to enter public service.
“When I was a kid I was told how important it is to serve. From serving in the military, the church, or the community, everyone has their own calling to serve. I carry that message with me every day,” says King.
During the summer King will meet with residents across District 27 to talk about the issues facing the Triad. Jobs, safety, and education have been consistent topics of discussion in the run-up to his decision to explore a senate run. Based on those conversations King will decide if he will formally announce his candidacy. That decision will be made at the end of summer.
“North Carolina is emerging as a leader for business friendly policies. We have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, and I want to do what I can to help move us to number one,” King explains.
Sebastian recently concluded his tenure as policy advisor for Representative Jon Hardister (R-Guilford), District 59. That does not mean, however, he is done collaborating with Hardister.
“I am proud of the work we have done to increase jobs in the state and to ensure our first responders receive the benefits they deserve, but we still have more work to do,” King says. He continues, “I think it would be great to have a voice in the Senate to partner with Hardister and Representative John Faircloth (R-Guilford) in the House to advance those priorities. That voice is currently missing in District 27.”
King would face Michael Garrett (D-Guilford) in the general election in 2020.
