The High Point Arts Council annual fund-raising event Speakeasy at the Station for a Roaring Good Time Sat., May 18
The High Point Arts Council is hosting its annual fund-raising event at the Centennial Station Arts Center on Saturday, May 18, from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. The Arts Center is in a historic freight train station that was built in the 1930s. This vintage facility led to the theme of a Speakeasy at the Station!
Entertainment for the evening will include a “murder mystery” dinner set in the Prohibition era. Guests will mingle with the actors during the cocktail hour and try to solve the whodunit mystery. Plus there will be dancers in flapper costumes performing the Charleston and a feather fan number. To finish out the evening will be The Hip Six playing jazz from the 1920s era that will have you dancing and swooning!
Dinner for the evening will include Gangster Breast of Chicken Milanaise, Roaring ‘20s Cheesy Mashed Potatoes, Baby Face Green Beans and Carrots, and Pretty Boy Floyd Pineapple Upside Down Cake. The signature drink of the evening is Front Porch Peach Tea made with Moonlight Moonshine!
In addition to solving mysteries, drinking moonshine, listening to jazz and dancing, there will be plenty of photo opportunities with retro décor and props! Plus, there will be silent auction items for guests to bid on and raise funds for the arts in High Point.
Although costumes are not required, there will be a prize for the best period dress. So get out your fedoras, spats, flapper dresses and boas to get in the mood! General admission to this fund-raising event is $75 per person and can be purchased on the Arts Council’s website at www.HighPointArts.org/events or by calling 336-889-ARTS.
The Centennial Station Arts Center is located at 121 S. Centennial Street in downtown High Point. Join us at Speakeasy at the Station for a roaring good time!
