The Ramkat to open in Winston-Salem’s Entertainment District in March
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Jan. 10, 2018) — Entertainment options in The City of Arts & Innovation are set to grow in early 2018 with the launch of The Ramkat (www.theramkat.com), a new concert hall and community performance space located at 170 West Ninth Street in Winston-Salem’s Entertainment District.
“We’re thrilled to announce the opening of The Ramkat,” said Richard Emmett, a co-owner and managing partner of The Ramkat. “Over the next several months, we’ll be busy booking shows while preparing the room for a grand opening. We are grateful for the support of the community and the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership in making this project possible.”
“I am very pleased that this wonderful partnership has been formed and that our community is going to be blessed with these new entertainment options,” said Jason Thiel, president of the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership, Inc. “I am confident that this will be a long-lasting venture with many benefits to our community.”
While the core focus will be presenting live music across all genres, The Ramkat will also seek out collaborations where they make sense.
“We want to partner with artists, performers and other arts organizations to offer a diverse spectrum of programming,” said Andy Tennille, co-owner and managing partner along with Emmett. “We hope The Ramkat will not only host live music but also dance, drama, comedy, and film, among other performing arts and special events.”
One partnership already underway is with Bryan Ledbetter, owner of Airtype Studios (www.airtype.com) and Camel City Goods (www.camelcitygoods.com), a design agency and apparel company in Winston-Salem. Not only is Ledbetter a partner and investor in The Ramkat, but Airtype developed the brand identity for the new venue and will serve as its marketing partner moving forward. Additionally, Camel City Goods will design and manage the venue’s merchandise offering.
“As a former touring musician that’s played in rooms all over the country, I’m excited to be partnering with Richard and Andy to bring The Ramkat to life,” Ledbetter said. “And as a supporter of downtown Winston-Salem, I’m eager to see how The Ramkat will enhance the entertainment options available in our great city.”
