TRIAD HAS TALENT! Competition Proves the Piedmont Certainly Does Have Talent!
High Point – On Sat., Jan. 12, the Friends of High Point Theatre presented its annual TRIAD HAS TALENT! competition, proving the Piedmont and surrounding area does indeed have talent! An audience of 235 were thrilled to performances by 26 individual performers and groups. The winning performance was a personally distinctive rendition of “He Hideth My Soul” by teen pianist Parker Hankins. Vocalists Patches Brown and Christopher Davis took the second and third place wins, respectively.
Selected finalists performed on Jan. 12, awarded cash prizes and special “People’s Choice” Award
The audience also had an opportunity to vote for their favorite contestants. Vocalists Jeff Tutterow and the duet of Elektra Farson and Caroline Griffith were presented with the People’s Choice Award after garnering a tie vote.
Judges for the event were Bill Warren from Performing Arts Live of Iredell; Patrice Kaluza, owner of Sea Sound Entertainment; Steve Davis, former director of UNCSA’s Stevens Center; and former High Point Theatre Director Louisa Hart. Community Theatre Actor and Realtor Joe Baker served as the Emcee for the show. In addition to our sincerest appreciation to each of our judges, we would like to also thank the staff of the High Point Theatre and the Friends of the High Point Theatre, whose tireless efforts made this highly successful event possible, and to our major corporate sponsors – High Point Jewelers & Fine Gifts and East Coast Autowerks. Giannos provided contestants with a complimentary pre-show dinner.
