Triad Health Project is Making Your Meal for a Future Without HIV with Dining for Friends

GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 13, 2018) – Triad Health Project, the area’s primary HIV/AIDS service and support organization since 1986, announces the Launch of this year’s annual Dining for Friends, to engage the support of the community in providing compassionate HIV/AIDS care, education and prevention. Bites and Pints Gastro Pub on Spring Garden Street will serve as the site for the Launch event on Monday, April 16 from 5-11pm, with a percentage of sales that evening benefiting Triad Health Project. The new restaurant has quickly become a hit with local diners since owners Kris Fuller and Mike Bosco opened in September of 2017, serving up burgers and more with Fuller’s signature originality in pairing simple food with designer sauces and cultural cuisine to create the next evolution in eating out. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

Dining for Friends, which has traditionally been a spring event, is being reintroduced in 2018 as a year-round opportunity for supporters to help raise funds that provide life-saving services to more than 550 people living with HIV/AIDS in Guilford County, and to an additional 2,000 individuals impacted by HIV/AIDS or at-risk of contracting HIV. Since the inaugural Dining for Friends in 1990, the event has raised nearly 4.7 million dollars for Triad Health Project’s services and has served as a model for similar programs around the country.

Dining for Friends began when a group of caring individuals who were losing friends and loved ones to the AIDS epidemic introduced the concept as a philanthropic path to provide support and care for people in the community impacted by HIV/AIDS. Since that time, Piedmont Triad residents have continued to come together each year for Dining for Friends, with volunteer hosts welcoming their guests for a party or other event in exchange for a donation to Triad Health Project. Dining for Friends events are everything from backyard barbecues to formal dinner parties. Most Dining for Friends parties are in and around the Triad region, but Triad Health Project supporters from around the country also join in with parties where they live. Those wishing to utilize the Dining for Friends model to help fight HIV/AIDS choose a date to host a gathering, using a birthday, holiday, anniversary or any occasion to bring friends together. Be it cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, a church fish fry or an imaginatively themed fete, compassion, love and the spirit of friendship are all it takes to make a difference for people in our community living with HIV and AIDS.

Those interested in hosting a Dining for Friends party can sign up via the Triad Health Project website at triadhealthproject.com or contact the agency for more information at 336-275-1654.

    About Triad Health Project

Founded in 1986 by a group of friends who banded together in support of other friends who were newly diagnosed with HIV and lacking any system of support, Triad Health Project has evolved into Guilford County’s only HIV/AIDS service organization, providing practical and emotional support to individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, and educating those at risk and the community at large about the disease.
