UNCG Selected by HBO & American Red Cross for “Game of Thrones” Season Finale Event: 1 of 20 Sites in US
Greensboro, N.C. (March 27, 2019) – To celebrate the final season of “Game of Thrones,” HBO and the American Red Cross have partnered to ask fans and blood donors to #BleedForTheThrone this spring. UNCG is one of 20 blood drives across the country to take part in this promotion.
- UNCG is one of only 20 “Bleed for the Throne” sites chosen by HBO and the American Red Cross.
- UNCG is ranked in the top 100 single-day blood drives in the nation by the American Red Cross.
The blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Elliott University Center. As part of the partnership, participants who donate at UNCG Blood Drive on April 2 will receive a limited-edition Bleed For The Throne T-shirt and other items, while supplies last. Donors will also receive the new edition EUC Blood Drive t-shirt.
UNCG was selected by the American Red Cross to participate in the Bleed For The Throne drive due in large part to its highly successful blood drives. According to the American Red Cross, UNCG hosts one of the top 100 single-day blood drives in the country, with more than 300 pints donated at last September’s drive.
For seven seasons, the characters of Game of Thrones have bled for the Iron Throne, and now the Red Cross is joining the battle for the living by asking all eligible individuals to help alleviate blood shortages in the real world.
