Uncle Sam’s Memorial Day Tribute at Winston-Salem Fairgrounds
Uncle Sam’s Memorial Tribute Display has returned to the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds and will be held this May 26- 28 from 10 am- 5 pm in the Neil Bolton Home and Garden Building.
The display features: the NC Moving Wall honoring all NC Vietnam War casualties, photos of all Vietnam War casualties within NC, and photos of the war memorial monuments (WWI, WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War) of all 100 NC counties.
The Winston-Salem Fairgrounds continues to keep community entertainment a priority. The fairgrounds strives to bring a variety of private and public events maintaining its goal of staying Winston-Salem’s home for year round entertainment.
Uncle Sam’s Memorial Tribute Wall features the names of more than 1,600 North Carolinians who did not come home from the Vietnam War, it is accompanied by the pictures and information about each one of the veterans listed The wall was initially a project of Grace Church in Greenville, N.C. in 1990. The wall was later given to the Vietnam Veterans Association. It consists of six panels that come to a point at the junction of panels three and four.
