Winston-Salem Fairgrounds to Implement New Safety Measures for Events.
The Winston-Salem Fairgrounds has implemented new safety measures that will go into effect during the Carolina Thunderbirds season starting with the home opener game Nov. 8 at the Annex Ice Rink. All fans will be required to walk through a metal detector and fans with bags will be required to undergo a bag check.
“Safety is a huge factor for the Thunderbirds and we believe this is great measures the Fairgrounds management is putting in place” Jimmy Milliken, Thunderbirds General Manager.
“Following the success of their usage during the Dixie Classic Fair the Fairgrounds Management staff in conjunction with WSPD have put forward this safety measure for all of its events moving forward” Robert Mulhearn, Public Assembly Facilities and Venue Manager “As Winston-Salem’s home for entertainment it is important that we can raise the level of comfort to our guests attending events while at the same time continuing to keep our facility best practices in line with venues all across the country.”
The Winston-Salem Fairgrounds will implement the metal detectors at all future hockey games and scheduled live events such as concerts.
